Ohhh, Ink and Jasper belong to Miyuli! I’m excited to see what you will do with their story!
ASDFGHJK I love seeing surprises like that on my dashboard!! Seeing my babies drawn by others makes me want to start their story sooner! But I want to be careful with planning. Ooh, so happy <3
I’m always leaving out the feet because I really suck at drawing feet and shoes… So here some studies.
College work!
We had to analyze a movie we chose and now our homework is to make 5 totally different movie posters for that movie. This is my first! I wanted to start off with an illustration. It’s based on my favourite scene in the movie.
(Also, there is no apostrophe because this would be a German poster…)
Anonymous asked: I really look to you when it comes to characters. Yours are always so fun and interesting. (Esme would have to be my favorite.) But um. I really need help with this. How can I step away from drawing my own characters in just boring plain poses? I feel like every time I draw, my character has the same pose, facing the same direction. How do you break away from that? @.@
Thank you! I’m glad my characters aren’t boring! I’m still working on being creative, the variety of shapes could be muuch better in my designs, though orz
Anyways, each of your characters is individual and special in their own way, right? Just think about how their character traits could show in their poses! Also, if you have a variety of body shapes the poses should already look differently because they have their own way of balancing weight etc. Maybe they have strong interests so you could even give them some props~
But if you have a really hard time coming up with poses I have two tips: First you could put the character into a situation. Maybe a conversation or seeing something unexpected or trying out new clothes etc. Maybe you will find it easier to come up with a pose that shows their character better then~
If you can’t think of any situation try playing around with contrapposto! It’s dynamic and you can vary and exxagerate it how you need it! It usually looks good :)
My last piece of advice would be reading Walt Stanchfield’s ‘Drawn to Life‘ handouts! He explains how you should concentrate on drawing the action, not the single body parts. It helped me a lot!
I hope this could help anyone a bit, too :)
